After years of
traditional quilting, in 1998 I took a class in raw-edge piecing
which inspired me to begin creating quilted wall hangings that are
art. My dear friend and fe llow
quilter, Jane Johnston, and I began to meet weekly to explore
innovative techniques in surface design and quilt
construction. Soon, art quilts became my passion. An
early piece, Lilies for
Sally, is my personal favorite... and my first to be juried
into a national show, in 2000. Since then I have
expanded my efforts to include landscapes, seascapes and
portraits.
My most popular wall hanging is
April Morning, which was exhibited at the Mid-Atlantic Quilt Show
in 2001. I have created four versions of this piece to
date. Since I am relatively new to this art form, I look
forward to continuing my journey of exploration in the world of
fiber art.
